Edmonton Shines as a North American Haven for Homebuyers

In a time when many are grappling with the steep climb of housing prices, Edmonton offers a surprising reprieve. According to a recent Zoocasa report, this Alberta city ranks as one of the most affordable housing markets in North America. With a median household income of $62,222 comfortably supporting a median home price of $294,815, Edmonton is a beacon of affordability, positioned as the third most accessible market on the continent, only trailing behind Saskatoon and Saint John.

This contrast is particularly stark when compared to nearby Calgary, where despite having the highest median income in Canada, home prices continue to rise sharply. The report, which underscores the broader affordability of Canadian cities over U.S. counterparts, also brings to light the significant income disparities faced by Canadians—earning on average $20,000 less than Americans, yet dealing with home prices that are over $30,000 higher.

Despite these challenges, Edmonton remains a standout for potential homeowners, exemplifying how affordability in the housing market can still exist in today's economic landscape. For more insights, check out the full report here.
